Today we are making an adorable flower basket. Kids of all ages will have so much fun with this paper craft. It’s a budget-friendly spring craft that uses simple craft supplies. You can make this flower basket craft at home or in the classroom.

Let’s make this paper plate craft!

Flower Basket

Spring is here and that means flowers! So, we are making a flower craft. It’s simple, fun, and older kids and younger kids alike will be able to make it. Though toddlers will need some assistance with the cutting out.

Kids will be able to color, cut, paint, and glue to make this flower basket. They can color and decorate the flowers anyway they want as they explore colors, practice fine motor skills, and more! So, without further ado, let’s make this flower basket.

Supplies Needed To Make A Flower Basket

How To Make A Paper Plate Flower Basket

Step 1

Download and print our flower template. I printed them at 50% so they’d fit the basket better. You can do bigger or smaller.

Step 2

Color and cut out the flowers.

Color the flowers and cut them out.

Step 3

Flower basket craft- Step 2 - Trace dome on top of paper plate- Kids Activities Blog
Trace a dome on 1/2 of the paper plate and cut out.

Trace a dome around half the paper plate. Cut out the dome.

Craft Note

Poke a hole where you want to cut. It makes it easier.

Step 4

Paint the paper plate brown.

Paint the basket brown.

Step 5

Flower basket craft- Step 4- Draw a leaf on green paper- Kids Activities Blog
Draw and cut out leaves on the green construction paper.

While the basket is drying trace leaves on a green piece of construction paper. Cut them out. We used dark green and light green construction paper.

Step 6

Glue the flowers on your basket.

Glue on your flowers.

How To Make This Flower Basket Craft Your Own

Just like all our other crafts there are things you can do to make this flower basket craft your own. You can do things like:

  • Draw your own flowers
  • Add flowers around the entire rim
  • Have the flowers drape
  • Add vines and more leaves
  • Add detail to the basket
  • Add glitter

Our Experience With This Flower Basket Craft

With spring being here I just felt like a flower craft was necessary. And why not make a punch of flowers that you can carry around in a paper plate basket.

My kids made such lovely flowers and they even were able to play with the basket. Which is a win. I didn’t expect pretend play, but you know what, I’ll take it!

Grab some construction paper, paper plates, scissors, and glue because we are making flower baskets today!

Materials

  • Paper Plate
  • Our Printable Flower Template*
  • Acrylic Brown Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Markers, Crayons, Gel Pens, or Colored Pencils

Instructions
