How to Draw a Sunflower step by step
Let’s make our own sunflower sketch! Follow this easy sunflower step-by-step tutorial and you will be drawing your own in no time.
Step 1
Let’s start with drawing a small circle. This will be the inner circle of your sunflower or the very middle of the flower.
Step 2
Draw a bigger circle around the first circle. We made ours just a little bit bigger than the original circle.
Step 3
Draw six petals, and make sure there’s room between them. Draw the petal shape coming to a soft point at the end with curved lines on either side. It is fine if all the petals aren’t exactly the same shape and size, but you want it to be close.
Step 4
Add six more petals in the spaces between the first ones. I find it easier to fill in spaces with petals because you have a template for how big each petal drawing needs to be.
Step 5
Draw a tip between each petal – they’ll be 12 in total. Remember if you looked at these petals from the back they would be about the same size as the petals you have already drawn!
Step 6
Now let’s add some sunflower details!
Step 7
Add a stem under the sunflower. A sunflower stalk or stem is pretty thick and round. The sunflower stem has to be big enough to support the weight of the sunflower.
Step 8
Draw a leaf or two onto the sunflower stalk.
Step 9
We erased some of the straight lines in the middle of the sunflower and made some curvy or wavy lines instead as you can see illustrated above. Add as many details, colors, and patterns as you want. Good job, your sunflower drawing is done!
I love flowers, especially happy ones like sunflowers! They are so bright and cheerful, and they remind me of beautiful spring. That’s why today we’re learning how to draw a sunflower.
