I was looking for some not-so-scary Halloween ideas for my kids. We aren’t big Halloweeners, but we love fall and candy. So I thought this Halloween clay candy idea was perfect!

Making Halloween candy is easy to do, great fine motor skills practice, and lets kids play with paints! Win-win! Not to mention, kids can play with the Halloween clay candy afterwards promoting pretend play, or you can use it as decorations for this fall season. Perfect! So, without further ado, let’s make Halloween clay candy.

Supplies Needed To Make Halloween Clay Candy

How To Make Halloween Clay Candy

Step 1- Candy Corn

Candy corn is easy to make. Shape your clay into small balls

Halloween Clay Craft- 1.25- Candy corn clay shape on gray background- kids activities blog — Shape your ball to look like candy corn. Do this for all of them.

The shape your candy corn by shaping your clay balls into a soft triangle. Allow it to dry.

Halloween Clay Craft- 1.5- All balls shaped like candy corn- kids activities blog — Allow your candy corn to dry.

Craft Note:

Put a piece of paper underneath your clay candy to avoid a mess. We did this before we painted all the candy.

Paint the bottom of the candy corn yellow.

The orange paint will be the biggest section painted.

Craft Note:

When painting, you may need multiple coats. Allow the first coat to dry first.

Step 2- Chocolate Cup

Roll your clay into a ball.

Flatten it.

Use a tooth pick to make grooves around the edges. Allow it to dry.

Paint brown.

Step 3- Mini Chocolate Piece

Create a rectangle using your clay. Flatten and smooth edges using your tools.

Make a clay snake and cut it into 4 pieces. You will have 2 short pieces and 4 long pieces to make a rectangle within your rectangle.

Use your tools to smooth on your texture. Allow it to dry.

Paint it brown.

Step 4- Fun Sized Chocolate Squares

Make thick squares with your clay. Use your tools to smooth the sides and edges.

You will use some clay to make another snake. It will need to be thin. Cut off small pieces.

Make an S shape on the chocolate. Allow to dry.

Paint the mini chocolates brown.

Step 5- Lollipops

Make 2 balls with your clay.

Roll out a thick snake and then flatten it. Use your tools to make the snake into a rectangle.

Cut off 2 rectangles.

Roll your ball over the rectangle and use your tools to smooth the texture onto the lollipop.

Add your toothpick, sharp end first, into the lollipop. Allow the sucker to dry.

Like every other craft you can change things up and make them your own! You can do things like:

Wrapping some of the candies.

Our Experience With Making Halloween Clay Candy Craft

We had a blast making our own “candy”. It was fun. We made candy corn, suckers, chocolates, sour candies, all sorts of things. It was super fun. And we were able to decorate them to look like our favorite flavors.

Grant it, afterwards we went out and got real candy too. I know, I know, it’s not healthy, but a treat once in a while is okay and after looking at all this pretend candy, we needed a sweet treat!

And the kids loved this fake candy. They busted out their costumes and pretended to trick or treat at their bedroom doors. It was adorable! And afterwards, we set it out on a tray. My kids were convinced people would pick it up and think it was real candy to which my husband obliged and was super “tricked” by the pretend candy. My kids thought it was a hoot and a half when he tried to eat pretend candy corn. I love them. But I also loved this craft and hope you and your family had as much fun as we did making these Halloween clay candy craft.

This Halloween clay candy craft is so much fun. Not only is it a great fine motors skill craft, but it promotes pretend play, and can be used as fun fall decor.

Materials

Air Dry Clay
Paint Brushes
Toothpicks
Acrylic Paint
Clay Tools

Instructions

Candy corn is easy to make. Shape your clay into small balls
The shape your candy corn by shaping your clay balls into a soft triangle. Allow it to dry.
Paint the bottom of the candy corn yellow.
The orange paint will be the biggest section painted.
The tip will be painted white.
Let's make a chocolate cup now. Roll your clay into a ball.
Flatten it.
Use a tooth pick to make grooves around the edges. Allow it to dry.
Paint brown.
Now for the chocolate piece. Create a rectangle using your clay. Flatten and smooth edges using your tools.
Make a clay snake and cut it into 4 pieces. You will have 2 short pieces and 4 long pieces to make a rectangle within your rectangle.
Use your tools to smooth on your texture. Allow it to dry.
Paint it brown.
Time for fun sized chocolate squares. Make thick squares with your clay. Use your tools to smooth the sides and edges.
You will use some clay to make another snake. It will need to be thin. Cut off small pieces.
Make an S shape on the chocolate. Allow to dry.
Paint the mini chocolates brown.
Lollipop time! Make 2 balls with your clay.
Roll out a thick snake and then flatten it. Use your tools to make the snake into a rectangle.
Cut off 2 rectangles.
Roll your ball over the rectangle and use your tools to smooth the texture onto the lollipop.
Add your toothpick, sharp end first, into the lollipop. Allow the sucker to dry.
Paint your lollipop your favorite flavor. We did blue raspberry and cherry.
Time to make Spree now. Roll your clay into small balls.
Flatten them and use your tools to make them circles.
Allow them to dry before painting them fun colors.
