Some of my favorite holiday decorations are handprint crafts, so this year I decided to add a handprint pumpkin craft to our home this fall. And it is now one of my favorites!

How to Make Salt Dough Handprint Pumpkin Keepsake Craft
Ingredients Needed to Make Salt Dough
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
Supplies Needed for Handprint Craft
Make Salt Dough
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt and water. It will come together to form a dough — remove it from the bowl and knead it until it is smooth.
- Roll the dough out with a rolling pin.
Make Pumpkin Handprint Craft
Step 1
Press your child’s hand onto the dough to form the handprint.
Step 2
Use a bowl or circle cookie cutter to cut around the handprint to form the body of the pumpkin. Shape the stem and a vine from the remaining salt dough.
Step 3
Set is a dry area and allow to air dry for 48-72 hours.
Step 4
Once the dough is dry, it’s time to paint your pumpkin!
We added some white paint into the orange paint and colored in the handprint so that it would be lighter than the rest of the pumpkin.
Finished Pumpkin Handprint Craft
I love how it turned out! Add your child’s name and the date with a permanent marker on the front or back.
