This adorable story follows Catrina and her family as they move to the coast of Northern California. Cat isn’t happy about leaving her friends for Bahía de la Luna, but Maya has cystic fibrosis and will benefit from the cool, salty air that blows in from the sea.

As the girls explore their new home, a neighbor lets them in on a secret: There are ghosts in Bahía de la Luna. Maya is determined to meet one, but Cat wants nothing to do with them. As the time of year when ghosts reunite with their loved ones approaches, Cat must figure out how to put aside her fears for her sister’s sake — and her own.

We loved reading this book together, and had so much fun creating our own “ghosts” with glittery white slime.

Here’s what you need to make ghost slime:

  • 1 bottle white school glue
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup liquid starch
  • Fine white glitter
  • Black permanent marker
  • Condiment containers with lids

In a large bowl, pour the entire bottle of school glue. Add the water and stir with a wooden craft stick. Pour in the glitter and stir until combined.

Add the liquid starch and stir until the mixture comes together and starts pulling from the outside of the bowl. Take the slime in your hands and stretch and knead it until it reaches the desired consistency.

Add the slime to your condiment containers. Turn them upside down and use the permanent marker to add eyes and a mouth.
