How to Fold an Origami Christmas Stocking

Here at Kids Activities Blog, we love making handmade items for Christmas. They are a fun way for kids of all ages to entertain themselves while working on their fine motor skills, and the end result is a stocking you can actually use.

This is an easy project for kids of all ages, including kids in kindergarten and older kids. Plus, you can actually put all sorts of candies inside! Score!

Supplies Needed for Origami Stocking

• 1 sheet of origami paper – red on one side, white on other

Instructions To Make An Origami Stocking

Step 1

With the right side (the color you want showing) facing down, make a diagonal crease between opposing corners with a diagonal fold.

Step 2

Open.

Step 3

Fold top edge down 1/2 inch.

Step 4

Fold bottom edge up to meet the folded down top edge.

Step 5

Fold the top right corner of the bottom flap down, aligning with the bottom edge.

Step 6

Fold the top left corner of the bottom flap down, aligning with the bottom edge.

Step 7

Again, fold the top left corner of the bottom flap down, aligning with the bottom edge.

Step 8

Fold the top right corner of the bottom flap down, aligning with the bottom edge.

Step 9

Form the toe of the stocking by lifting the bottom flap, pulling the center forward and curving with a finger or thumb.

Step 10

Form the body of the stocking by wrapping the side edges backward until they meet, tucking the corners of one side into the top and bottom folds of the other.

Step 11

Now fill the inside of the stocking with goodies!
