Simple Craft Supplies Needed for Paper Plate Giraffe Craft
- white paper plate (6)
- yellow, brown, and pink paint
- paint brush
- large wiggly eyes
- scissors
- glue
- white permanent marker
Directions for Making a Giraffe from a Paper Plate
Step 1
After gathering supplies, paint 3 paper plates yellow, and 2 paper plates pink.
Step 2
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 3
When the yellow paint is dry, dab brown circles around the plate. We varied the sizes, as my son reminded me that every giraffe’s spots are unique.
Step 4
Glue 2 large wiggly eyes to the middle of the yellow plate. Set the giraffe’s head aside.
Step 5
Cut ears for the giraffe with the remaining paper plates. Glue the pink paper plate on top of the yellow plates.
Allow the glue to dry completely.
Tip: You could give kids a pattern to trace for the horns and ears, but the giraffes look super cute when kids make their ears and horns all different.
Step 6
Cut horns and a snout for the giraffe from the scraps of the yellow paper plate.
Step 7
Glue the horns and snout to the giraffe, then use the marker to draw a nose and mouth on the giraffe.
Finished Paper Plate Giraffe Craft
When all the glue is dry, your giraffe is done! Isn’t it cute? The perfect craft for animal lovers.
For added fun, glue the paper plate giraffe to a wooden paint stirrer to make a puppet!
Why We Love Giraffe Crafts
Giraffes are an interesting animal, mainly for their height, and their long neck. Because let’s be honest, they have an incredibly long neck. Their uniqueness makes them one of the more iconic zoo animals.
And while this cute giraffe paper craft may not have a long neck or the long legs of the giraffe, it still shows the top of the head.
Brown paint small circles (which is also fine motor skills practice) , smiley face made with a black marker, and the cutting and glue…it’s really just a fun paper giraffe craft that you can use at home or in the classroom.
