Best Blog

On Sense of Wonder you will find that a blog full of inspiration as they  strive to raise three children with creative spirits, open hearts, and a sense of wonder about the world around them.

Sense of  Wonder

We are interviewing Kristin  today to find out about the mom behind Sense of Wonder Why did you begin blogging? I have taught preschool for 10 years. When I decided to stay at home with my own children, I incorporated many of the ideas from my classroom in to my home. I began sharing the activities that we were doing on my personal Facebook page and some one suggested that I start a blog to share them with a larger audience. What do you hope to inspire in the parents who read your blog? My hope is to educate and inspire parents and teachers about how their children learn and grow. I include play based learning ideas, parenting tips, as well as information on how children grow and develop. What is it like to live in your home? I have three children.
  • “Big Sis” is 13. She loves to read and is actually writing her own novel. She loves to act and sing. She has been in every play that her school has put on and is excited about high school because she gets to audition for honors theater.
  • “Birdy” is 5. She is a ball of energy, literally climbing the walls! She is happiest running, riding, or climbing a tree. She never sits still ever!
  • “Bug” is my youngest and my only boy. He is two. He wants to do what ever his sisters are doing, whether that is riding bikes or getting his toenails painted.
Sense of Wonder What are your kids favorite activities? My children absolutely love it when I pull the old beat up mattresses from the garage and push all the furniture in the living room out of the way and let them bounce all over the place. They love to take great leaps off the couch and land on the mattress. They call it the bouncy bed. We also spend much of our free time at parks. We love to find new parks that we have never been to before and go exploring. What is important to YOU as a blogger? The activities and materials found on my blog are meant to be easy and accessible. My hope is that parents will discover that if they look around they will find that they already have all they need to create fun meaningful experiences with their children. What is your advice to readers? “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”  -Rachel Carson
