Things You Might Not Know About The Puerto Rico Flag
The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico flag, created to get support for independence from Spain was first accepted at Chimney Corner Hall, New York City by a group of 59 Puerto Ricans, including Juan de Mata Terreforte. They were promoting the ideal of Puerto Rican independence from Spain in the el Grito de Lares. Since Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, the flag is flown only with the American flag to it’s left and at the same height.
