Costco samples. It’s truly one of the MAIN reasons to to Costco on any given day.

I mean, of course, I love Costco and spend way too much money there but I really love trying the samples and since I don’t eat too much, it was always a mini-meal for me.

As you may know, Costco had pulled their sampling program once the pandemic caused stores and restaurants to shut down but it seems like we may be working our way towards some bit of normalcy.

Costco made that announcement that they will be bringing back free samples to their stores soon and I am so excited!

Back in April, during an interview with CNN, Costco’s Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti talked about the return of the food court experience in stores. “It’s going to take some time,” he told the outlet: “The food courts work. They’re one of the things we’re known for. We’re pleased that they’re coming back.”

Now, we have an update…

As of May 27, 2021, there is a plan to bring back Costco samples in June 2021! Yay!

According to the earning call, samples will start to come back “beginning a phased return to full sampling” early next month after a 14-month hiatus. Roughly 170 US locations will bring back food samples in the first week of June with “most of the remaining locations” returning toward the end of June, said Costco Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti.

As for samples, they will be given a bit different than you may remember.

“Increased safety protocols” including the samples being prepared behind plexiglass, made in smaller batches and distributed to customers one at a time.

Richard Galanti said some of the first items on the sampling list are breakfast sandwiches, noodle dishes, and meatballs. YUM!

I don’t know about you, but I am really excited to see samples at Costco back. I cannot wait!
