How to Make a Personalized Harry Potter Wand

Step 1 – DIY Harry Potter Wand Craft

Come up with a plan for your wand!

It’s always fun to make up your own idea, or you can even try to make wands from the actual Harry Potter movies.

I did that with one of mine:

Harry Potter Elder Wand on a white marble counter. Grey wand with bumps and a gold mark towards the bottom half.
It might not look exactly like the Elder Wand, but I tried to get it as close as possible!

Step 2 – DIY Harry Potter Wand Craft

After you have figured out what you want your wand to look like, it’s time to bring out the hot glue gun.

This is probably the most tedious part of the craft, especially if you are trying to make little knots in the wand like I did for the Elder Wand. These knots are created out of the glue.

Making Wand Knots and Bumps

If you want to do this, it will take a lot of spinning the wand and several additions of glue. However, you can do pretty much anything you want with the design; whether it be swirls, texture, or wand handles.

Step 3 – DIY Harry Potter Wand Craft

After your glue has dried, and your wand is the desired shape, now you can paint it however you like!

Don’t forget to decide what type of wood it’s made out of and what core it has!

Notes:

Don’t have chop sticks you can use think wooden dowels or sticks to make these DIY wands.

Metallic paint or glitter pain can make these wands magical! Everyone wants their own want to be special.

Acrylic paint is ideal for these. Depending on the paint you made need additional coats of paint to make it opaque.

Making these a gift? You could do this to regular wooden pencils to make Harry Potter wand pencils.

Playing with Finished Harry Potter Wand Craft

With their new Harry Potter wands, your kiddos can cast spells along with the movies.

It’s especially fun to pull these out at a party and have a little duel with your friends.
