You Can Get a Whole Pecan Pie from These Texas Vending Machines

Picture driving through Austin, Texas late at night. Suddenly, your stomach growls. You could totally go for a pecan pie, which are pretty popular and delicious throughout Texas.

You pull off the road and there it is… something wonderful. Something incredible. Something you won’t find anywhere else in the world: a vending machine that dispenses, you guessed it, whole pecan pies. 

 

If you find yourself dancing in excitement, you won’t be the only one. The unique vending machines are under video surveillance, and they’ve caught more than one patron dancing due to their good fortune. 

These roadside vending machines, and pecan pies, are from the family-owned Berdoll Pecan Candy and Gift Co. store. The 24-hour machines don’t just dispense pies either. You can also choose from among a variety of other treats, including chocolate pecans, candy, and beef jerky. 

But let’s be honest. It’s that famous pecan pie you really want. The machine sells traditional pies for $20 as well as chocolate pecan pies for $22. The machine takes both credit cards and cash. And yes, it’s totally worth the price tag. 

These pecan pie vending machines have been around for more than 12 years now. In other words, the locals are used to — and love — these delicious treats. After all, it has to be restocked every night! 

And if you’re just passing through? Well it’s also worth a stop to grab one delicious pie, or two. We won’t judge. 

There are currently two locations in Texas. One pecan pie vending machine is located at 2626 State Hwy 71 West in Cedar Creek (where the Berdoll Pecan Candy and Gift Co. store is also located). The other can be found at 3652 Bee Caves Road in Austin, Texas.
