Spring break is nearly here and that means kids being off of school, so why not have a staycation? Sometimes vacations are out of our budget, but you can still have fun at home. There are plenty of ways to make being at home just as fun as being off somewhere else. So, let’s look at different staycation ideas you and your family can enjoy!

You don’t have to break the budget this spring break going across the map or world or to theme parks. Your family can have fun at home with a staycation spending time together as a family. You can do it on a budget and even have a themed staycation.
Pick it out as a family or surprise your kids this spring break with lots of fun activities and ideas.

Awesome Staycation Ideas For Spring Break
1. Backyard Water Park
Forget the long lines! Make a water park in your back yard! Set up a kiddie pool, have water guns, sprinkler and slip n slide! You can even have fun things like water balloons. Use what you have, other things you can get fairly cheaply online or at stores. Set up different areas for your kids to enjoy.
2. Backyard Drive In Movie Theater
Have a movie night each night! Grab your projector and screen and watch fun movies. Do a theme like classic movies the family will love like: Hook, Sandlot, The Parent Trap, Indian in the Cupboard, Fly Away Home. Don’t forget snacks!
3. Backyard Camping
Go camping in your backyard! Set up a tent, roast hot dogs, and make smores. You can do other things too like stargazing, telling scary stories, and there are so many fun outdoor activities you can do.
4. At Home Spa
Wanting to feel fabulous? Enjoy an at home spa complete with things like a foot spa, foot mask, ice globes for a facial, face masks, nail painting, sugar scrubs, and more!
5. Fun Learning Week
Spend the week learning and exploring your town. Stop at the zoo, the library, go check out a museum, farmer’s market, or go on a walking trail, or a new park.
6. A Tournament
Each day of the week you can have a different game night. From board games, to card games, to obstacle courses, you can do a different game and challenge each day and have prizes!
7. Scavenger Hunts
Do a different scavenger hunt everyday. Do one looking for things around the house and make sure to try some that get you outside in the sun. We actually have a ton of scavenger hunts you can try.
8. Perform Acts Of Kindness
Go around and do acts of kindness during the kids time off. Bake cupcakes for people, visit a nursing home, make cards for a children’s hospital, spend time at an animal shelter.
9. Stay At A Local Hotel
Why would you want to stay at a hotel in the same town you’re living in? Because it’s fun and different. Plan it around something you’re about to do the next day. Whether you’re going to a movie, or the farmers market, or whatever the next day, spending a night in a hotel is just out of the norm for most kids. Add in pizza, movies, and ice cream and you have a fun family night!
10. Kids Choice
Before you do this, put down some ground rules! Obviously most of us can’t drop thousands of dollars to let the kids go wild. But we can do stuff like letting them choose the restaurants we eat that, what we do that day within reason, what sweets we are gonna make, etc. Let them choose throughout the week so it feels more exciting.
