Ingredients Needed to Make Creamy Slow-Cooker Chicken
- Boneless skinless chicken breast – You can substitute chicken thighs here but I find chicken breast much easier to shred.
- Italian seasoning
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cream of chicken soup
- Milk
- Cream cheese
Instructions for Creamy Slow Cooker Chicken

Step 1
Make sure you line your slow cooker with a disposable liner or spray it generously with non-stick cooking spray. You don’t want any of this delicious meal to get stuck to the bottom.
Step 2
Layer your chicken breasts at the bottom of the pot.
Step 3
Sprinkle all of your seasonings on top, including the salt and pepper.
Step 4
Next is the cream of chicken soup and the milk. Whisk them together before pouring over the seasoned chicken.
Step 5
Cut your cream cheese into cubes so it can be easily distributed over the chicken and soup mixture.
Tip: Since it isn’t going to be mixed together at this point, your cream cheese doesn’t have to be at room temperature.
Step 6
Put on the cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3 hours (if you just can”t wait). Make sure you check your chicken before pulling it. It needs to reach an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F. Safety first!

Step 7
Remove the chicken and use two forks to shred it.
Tip: If I want a shortcut, I put the chicken in a bowl and use a hand mixer. Your chicken will be shredded and ready to go in less than 2 minutes.
Step 8
Add your shredded chicken back into the slow cooker and mix all of the ingredients until thoroughly combined.
Step 9
Serve with your favorite side dish. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. They should last up to 4 days.
