Costco is known for being an amazing store with a generous return policy but what you might not know about Costco, could cost you your membership card.

While it’s true that Costco offers one of the most generous return policies in the industry, there is one surefire way you could abuse that policy and wind up not being able to shop there anymore.

In case you didn’t know, Costco will return almost anything, at any time, especially if you’re not satisfied with your purchase (there are some exceptions).

But some people tend to think they can take advantage of Costco’s generosity.

A reddit thread revealed some of the craziest things people have returned to Costco including a soiled mattress and even a container of bones and fat from a ribeye they had cooked for the holidays.

No, I am not kidding.

A lady returned a bottle an empty bottle of wine cause it gave her a headache.

And it seems to get worse the further you read…

I’ve seen plants come back after a few years because the owner was tired of them. Cakes came back half eaten because they didn’t like the taste. Couch sets come back every year, the member usually buys the newer model and the cycle continues. Play sets because the kids grew up (I can somewhat see this one). So much more

In fact, Business Insider once reported that a woman tried returning a printer she bought in 2010. After a bit of back and forth, she was able to return the printer but at the cost of her Costco membership being revoked.

The bottom line here is, while Costco will truly try to bend over backwards to satisfy the customer, even with returns, but abusing the policy can get your Costco card revoked.

So, use the Costco return policy wisely and in a way that won’t make them change their generous policy altogether and ruin it for the rest of us.
