Essential Oil Recipe: Unwinding Bath Melts

This lavender bath melts / coconut oil bath melts recipe is one of the easiest there is, and it is one of the very best, too. We love that it takes two natural ingredients: coconut oil and lavender essential oil. Lavender is known for its soothing and relaxing effects so it is perfect for this! Coconut oil is hydrating and can help moisturize your dry skin, so this bath melt recipe is two-in-one! It’s relaxing and hydrating – a warm bath with rose petals is one of my favorite ways to relax after a long day. Although lavender is our favorite essential oil, you can customize these homemade bath melts with other pure essential oil blend and body butters. Depending on the carrier oil and essential oil of your choice, you will get different skin care benefits. Our favorite carrier oils are vitamin e oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, mango butter (yummiest smell ever) and shea butter. And when it comes to essential oils, there are so many different ones you can try. These are our favorites for a relaxing bath: 5-10 total drops of essential oil should be more than enough for any bath oil melts. Just make sure not to mix a whole bunch because the aroma of the essential oils might be too overwhelming. We used a star silicone mold but you can really use anything you have at hand. You can also use a double boiler if you have one, but it’s not necessary. Hot water and a microwave-safe dish are all you need. This post contains affiliate links that support Kids Activities Blog.

Directions

  1. Scoop out 1/2 cup of solid coconut oil into a microwave safe dish.
  2. Use the double boiler if you have one. If not, you can heat in 10 second intervals, stirring each time, until it is melted.
  3. Then, add in 10 drops of your favorite essential oils.
  4. Pour 2 teaspoons of the mixture into silicone molds. You can use a cookie sheet, candy trays, or an ice cube tray.
  5. Pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes or until solid.
  6. Your bedtime bath melts are ready for the next time you need a hot bath!
