Do you need a fun, easy, but still edible craft activity for a larger group? Make a marshmallow snowman with the kids!
Marshmallow snowmen are a great option for class parties, if edible crafts are allowed, as all ingredients can be brought in in sealed packages.
They are also great for playgroup crafts or even a fun holiday table activity to keep the kids occupied before or after dinner. Not only that, they’re cute and rather tasty too!
Marshmallow Snowman
This could also be a fun treat to make to go alongside the Frosty The Snowman song as well!
Or it could pair well with a number of great Snowmen stories like:
- The Snowman’s Song By Marilee Joy Mayfield
- Snowman at Christmas By Caralyn Buehner
- The Biggest Snowman Ever By Steven Kroll
Supplies You Need to Make a Marshmallow Snowman
The supplies are fairly minimal and cheap which makes this edible snowman a great craft for large groups! After all, who doesn’t want to eat a marshmallow snowman with pretzel arms! Salty and sweet, the perfect combination.
Materials:
- 2-3 large marshmallows
- 1 graham cracker
- Mini chocolate chips
- Candy corn
- Icing as “glue”
- Pretzel sticks
- Craft sticks, toothpicks, and paper plates for easy clean up
How To Make A Marshmallow Snowman
- Using your craft stick to spread icing, glue one marshmallow on top of the graham cracker and the second marshmallow on top of the first.
- Carefully use a toothpick to pierce the marshmallow and insert a candy corn nose.
- Using the toothpick again, pierce the marshmallow for eyes and insert the pointy end of the mini chocolate chips into the marshmallow, push into place.
- Repeat this step for buttons on the bottom marshmallow
- Break a pretzel stick in half and poke a half-pretzel into the sides for arms.
- Serve and enjoy!
- Optional: add a vanilla wafer and mini peanut butter cup for a hat or trim fruit leather/fruit roll to be a scarf.
More Marshmallow Snowman Ideas
We have been scouring the internet for fun variations on this simple idea and thought it would be fun to add some inspiration here…
Gumdrops make great marshmallow snowman hats…and shoes! This is a cute idea to include a lollipop as well.
Serve your snowmen on a stick which allows you to put them into a serving dish like this for others to grab. Kids will like arranging scenes and this could be great fun in combination with a gingerbread house.
These marshmallow snowmen have candy cane noses (a very tiny variety of the candy) and scarves out of gummy candy strips.
This is my very favorite idea. Let’s make marshmallow snowmen and snowwomen or in this case, snowreindeer so they can float atop a hot freshly made mug of hot chocolate!
