How to Make an XO Band Bracelet!
Creating bracelets and accessories is a lot of fun for kids to do, but is also great for building their brains. Finding good loom tutorials that show how to make a band bracelet is sometimes challenging!
Kids develop pattern-making skills, learn to follow ever increasingly complex directions, all while working with intricate fine-motor skills.
And if you skip any steps, you need to start over again!
As my kids love the bracelets they are willing to fight through the process. I love that!
*If you are not accustomed to band bracelets, this is a medium complex bracelet. You will want to start with some of the easier band bracelets to make.*
XO Band Bracelet Tutorial
To make the XO Band Bracelet you will want to put an “edge” of around the loom. Start on one end with the arrows pointing up. The prongs should look like “U”s. After you fill the perimeter, you can make your “X”s.
Go back to where you started and make an “X” with the bands. Loop from the center prong to the outer prongs. We made our “X”s with pink, purple and blue. Top the middle of each “X” with an “O” – use a single band and double loop it over the center prong. We used white and yellow for our “O”s.
Flip your loom over, so the prongs look like “n”s. Working from the bottom, begin pulling the bands over the prong in front of it. With the center, pull the bands off, looping them through the circle “O”.
Have your kids created their own Band Bracelet Patterns?
We would love to hear about them or see pictures! Add a photo to our Facebook wall!
Thank you so much for posting a tutorial on something other than the rainbow loom. My dd has a loom like yours and I’m having a difficult time finding tutorials on this type of loom. If you have more, please post it 🙂 Visiting from the TurnItUp Linkup

My younger son is the band bracelet maker in our family, so I want to print out these directions for him. However, I have a question: the 1st sentence of the directions states, “To make the XO band bracelet you need to put an ‘edge’ of around the loom.” Edge of what? Would you please clear this up for me? He’s made enough of these in various styles that he might be able to work off the pictures alone, but just in case ….
Thanks,
Cheryl
