Today we are making our own paper plate fan! Kids of all ages will love making their own fans. The weather is getting warmer and this is such a cute and fun way to cool off. And the best part is, you only need basic craft supplies. Make these paper plate fans at home or in the classroom.

Paper Plate Fan Craft
Grab your paper plates, your scissors, and paints to make your own fan. Little kids might need a little help using the hot glue gun, but other than that, they can decorate and design their own fans.
Older kids and younger kids will be able to practice fine motor skills and explore colors and art with this simple paper craft.

Supplies Needed To Make This Paper Plate Fan
- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun
- Paper Plate
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Paint Brushes
- Sponge
- Acrylic Paints (We used black, red, blue, and white)
How To Make Your Paper Plate Fan
Step 1

Take your paper plate and draw a line down the middle horizontally on the paper plate.
Step 2

Cut along the line.
Step 3

Paint the paper plate half black.
Step 4

Add a dab of blue paint, red paint, and white paint.
Step 5

Dab the sponge on the dots of paint until they’re somewhat blended in. Allow it to dry.
Step 6

Dip your paintbrush into white paint and run your finger over it and let white paint splatter to look like stars.
Step 7

Paint a white crescent moon.
Step 8

Paint blue over the white and drag the white and blue up to make a circle.
Step 9
Add some black on the right side of the circle.

Step 10
Add a little more white to the left side to make the crescent moon a little more defines.
Step 11

Glue two jumbo popsicle sticks together, the popsicle sticks need to make an x at the bottom.
Step 12

Hot glue the crossed popsicle sticks to the paper plate and you’re done.
How To Turn This DIY Fan Craft Your Own
Just like all our other crafts you can make this paper fan craft your own. You can do things like:
- Add pom poms
- Add glitter
- Paint whatever picture you want
- Use crayons
- Decorate your fan with markers
- Punch different pictures in it with hole punches
- Fold up your plate to look textured
- Decorate the handles
Our Experience With This Paper Plate Fan Craft
It’s hot already where we live. And so fans are a must. So we made our own! We have plenty of paper plates and popsicle sticks so we threw those together.
They work well. And my kids decorated theirs with their favorite colors and made some cute little pictures. They really had fun with this craft. But who doesn’t love painting?
