Halloween Costume Planning Tips

Halloween costumes can be as simple as buying a premade one at the store, but if you’re making one from scratch here are some great ideas:

  • Look at cosplay inspiration. A lot of people make armor, weapons, and the such at home from Styrofoam and other simple items.
  • Make sure you have an insulated layer unless the costume itself is warm. Many places Halloween is rather cold.
  • There is a ton of inspiration to be found in places like Pinterest, Tiktok, Youtube, and Rumble.
  • You don’t have to break the bank. Don’t be afraid to look at the Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, yard sales, and even thrift stores for items you need.
  • Yes, the super cute shoes may match perfectly. But if your child is walking around and trick or treating, comfort is better than looking cool.
  • While some of these costumes are elaborate, make sure it isn’t too heavy or too hot or too cold for your child.
  • Make sure your child can move comfortably and be seen easily in their costume.
  • If you’re making a costume, then always make sure your child can breathe and see well if they’re wearing something over their face.
  • Put at least 1 items on the front and back that glows or reflects light to keep your child safe.
