Our Experience Making Ovaltine Rice Krispie Treats

All through my childhood, my mom would make cookie plates to give away through the holiday season.   She would make 3 or 4 different kinds of cookies so all the plates had variety.   Each year she would try a new recipe and some years it would become a staple on the cookie plate, and sometimes it would disappear never to be made again.

  1. As children, my sisters and I always got new pajamas on Christmas Eve. We looked forward to opening that one package and putting on our new jammies.

  2. Every year for as long as I can remember we pull out the family recipe box and pick our favorite holiday recipes to make. I always went with something chocolate. Since having kids we have also added letting them pick a special cookie recipe for Santa. Christmas morning I always get up before the kids and prepare hot cocoa for us all to enjoy while we open gifts.

  3. My favorite holiday memory is of my first Christmas after my mom married my step-dad, Jeff. He always introduced me as his daughter…no step- anything. He’s been more of a dad to me than I could ever imagine. He showed us what Christmas was all about. He made sure we all got a gift from each other and one from Santa and we went to his mom’s house for Christmas dinner and than we all just hung out reading Christmas stories and having a bible study for about 2 hours. It was nice and it’s a tradition that I continue to carry out with my kids.

  4. Best Thanksgiving ever was last year- my brother just came home from another tour in Afghanistan the day before. We all traveled into town & enjoyed a glorious day together. So grateful for the sacrifice & his safe return. This year he is there for the holidays- but will return before summer.
