Store before serving in airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Any leftovers can be placed back into the fridge for a few days (if they last that long) until the apple pieces lose their crispness.

How to Keep Apples from Browning

There are several solutions to keeping apples from turning brown by applying or soaking in an acidic solution. Growing up, we always used lemon juice. You can add lemon juice to water and then soak the apple slices in the lemon juice for about 5 minutes before storing in an airtight container. I have also used a shaker of Fruit-Fresh which contains ascorbic acid also called Vitamin C among other ingredients that help prevent oxidation. You can also use salt, vinegar or light colored sodas.

Can Snicker Apple Salad be Frozen?

Theoretically, yes apple snickers salad can be frozen, but it is not best practice for a fresh taste. I don’t recommend freezing ahead of time, but saving leftovers is something that could be done!

Tailor this recipe to fit a vegan diet by making your own vegan “Snickers” bars and vegan caramel!

Vegan apple Snicker Salad

The original candy bar apple salad recipe is already vegetarian, but if you are looking for a vegan option, traditional Snickers bars are not vegan, unfortunately.

Here are the steps to making this recipe vegan:

  1. The good news is that it’s really easy to make DIY vegan Snickers bars with an Internet search, Medjool dates, unsalted peanuts, peanut butter, plant based milk, vanilla extract, Enjoy Life dairy free (and vegan) chocolate chips, and coconut oil!
  2. You can also swap out Snickers bars for store-bought vegan candy bars, or vegan candy, like Unreal brand peanut butter cups–the dark chocolate peanut butter cups are amazeballs!
  3. Then, just make your own vegan caramel sauce, buy vanilla almond milk pudding, and dairy-free whipped topping.

  1. I love Snickers Salad. I’ve made it several times before, although without the Butterscotch pudding. Will have to try your take on the recipe.

  2. Kristen Yard says:

It’s soooo good! Yes, you can make it without the pudding, or swap the butterscotch out for vanilla if you prefer. I want to try it with chocolate, too! Let us know what you think after you try adding the pudding 🙂
