Our Experience Making Ovaltine Rice Krispie Treats

All through my childhood, my mom would make cookie plates to give away through the holiday season.   She would make 3 or 4 different kinds of cookies so all the plates had variety.   Each year she would try a new recipe and some years it would become a staple on the cookie plate, and sometimes it would disappear never to be made again.

  1. My fave Christmas memory is My first daughters first Christmas! She kept pulling the ornaments off and kicking them, and antagonizing my cat! I have a video of her doing it and laughing at it. She was one and a half! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My favorite holiday memories are all from my children and their experiences at Christmas time. My little girls love to lay under the tree and look up through the lights and whisper to each other about presents and Santa. It’s so sweet!

  3. Oh goodness. I can’t even begin to describe my favorite Holiday Memory. It would have to be 2004, my parents had divorced and it was the first Christmas with my soon to be step-mom. My dad and her were trying to make it extremely cheerful and homey so they bought a REAL Christmas tree and set it up. I came walking in and threw a fit to put it mildly because my dad and I are allergic to the fir trees, pretty much accused her of trying to kill us both. Oh to be a dramatic teenager again. She got upset by it, grabbed the 8 foot tree by the top and dragged it out the back door and threw it in the backyard. My dad and I were just completely STUNNED, because that’s just not how we “wage war” in our family. An hour later I apologized and the tree was back in the house and we were decorating it, when I admitted maybe it wasn’t “ALL” that bad.
My family laughs about it every year now, it’s the most outrageously comical thing to bring up each holiday season. My step mom and I good naturedly rib each other about it because that was the very beginning of our relationship in a new family and boy did we start off with a bang! Oh and every year since then, even now that I’ve been married for 3 years, I HAVE to have a real Christmas tree. It gets taller every year too! <3

  4. Favorite memory was my son’s first Christmas photo with Santa. I had him perfectly dressed and then he made a mess, so we had to redress him in whatever was in the bag. At the last minute, last kid in line, I found a Santa hat in the bottom of the baby bag, put it on his head and he made the most perfect smile with he and Santa. When I got the photo, I almost cried. It’s amazing what happens when you aren’t trying for those perfect moments.
