Costco samples are one of the best reasons to have a Costco membership in the first place.
I mean, where else can you basically eat free lunch on any given day between 11 AM and 1 PM?
While we are all used to visiting a kiosk where we are greeted with a smile and a tasty sample, things are starting to change and people have mixed feelings about it.
A recent TikTok video posted from @costcodeals shows a new in-store kiosk that’s filled with samples of Mott’s fruit snacks.
This self-serve kiosk was spotted at a Costco in Issaquah, Washington and encourages customers to “take one”.
To be honest, I can only imagine this going sideways as people tend to want more than one sample.
And honestly, Costco has never had a specific policy on having just one sample…
While Costco hasn’t made any formal announcement that this is the samples of the future, people have mixed feelings about them.
And some say these are only around due to staffing shortages so it may not even be of concern.

Again, some people are excited about this change and compare it to Sam’s Club scan for sample kiosks. Only without the needing to scan your membership card.
Others are not so excited saying things like:
“I’m not even getting replaced by an AI. I’m getting replaced by a bin!”
