The Pleasantest Thing
We are interviewing Carolyn today to find out about the mom behind The Pleasantest Thing.
Why did you begin blogging?
Kids activities are fun! I was using my phone to send pictures and brief descriptions of our activities to my husband and the grandparents. And then to more relatives. And then to some friends. One of my friends suggested that I just start a blog. And the rest is history.
What do you hope to inspire in the parents who read your blog?
I hope readers see that play ideas can be simple and easy. I’m not very artistic or crafty, and I don’t have a lot of time to prepare elaborate activities. The activities I share can usually be done with 5 minutes (or fewer!) of prep time.
What is it like to live in your home?
My 5 year old tells stories from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep at night. He’s always moving, and loves any game with a ball. My toddler loves chasing bubbles, playing trains, and anything his big brother does. Both of them love playing outside, digging, and excel at emptying just-folded laundry baskets.
What are your kids favorite activities?
We love building! LEGO bricks, wooden blocks, Duplos, even cardboard boxes. If you can stack it, we’ve built castles, forts, garages, and space stations from it! It’s a fun way to interact, use imagination, and create something together.
What is important to YOU as a blogger?
I believe that there are as many styles of parenting as there are parents. I am not an expert and make my share of mistakes.
What is your advice to readers?
When in doubt, hug.
