How To Do This Christmas Ornament Painting
Step 1

Paint your craft wood black. We used a larger brush for this.
Step 2

Dip your fingers in assorted colors and dab them on the dried black paint. Don’t put too much paint on your fingers. We used pink, white, green, yellow, and blue. Let that dry.
Step 3

Take brown paint and paint branches. Paint a long branch going from one side to the other side. Now add branches that branch off of the main one. We did one that went up. One that went down and diagonal, and then another off of that. We also added some knots to the wood.
Step 4

Let’s add some detail! Using a darker brown, add some dark lines on the brown branches. Now add some white lines for some highlights. We used a smaller round brush for this.
Step 5

Time to add more details! Use a thin paint brush and take some dark green and make thin lines that meet on different areas on the stick. We added some on the base, at each branch, and some on the knots.
Step 6

Now add more needles on the tree using a lighter green going over the dark.
Step 7

Now use white and make white lines over the light and dark green needles.
Step 8
Let’s make ornaments! Using a light gray, paint a hook with a little rectangle. Now add an ornament underneath the gray top. We made our ornaments red and blue.
Step 9

Using a darker red, paint it and blend it on the left side of the ornament. Use a darker blue and paint the left side of the blue ornament, blending the light and dark colors.
Step 10

Taking white paint, add highlights to the right side.
Our Experience With This Ornament Painting

We had so much fun making this Christmas decoration. It was really neat making blurry Christmas lights and Christmas ornaments. My kids each had different colored lights. My oldest made more classic colored lights with white and silver and gold. While my younger kids went wild with the colors. But that’s half the fun.
My kids also added decorations to their ornaments. You could even add glitter to yours if you’d like. I wish I would have added glitter now that I think about it.
But I hope your family has as much fun as mine did making this ornament painting.
