INSTANT POT MEATBALLS RECIPE

Nothing hits the spot like homemade meatballs, and it’s even easier when you can make them in your Instant Pot! 

Homemade sauce is one of my favorite things to make! I love the sweet smell of sauce simmering away! When I want to take my sauce to the next level, I make meatballs from scratch. The rich meat, and Italian spices just add so much flavor!

HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT MEATBALLS

I used to just buy frozen meatballs (there’s nothing wrong with that!), but I swear by homemade meatballs. It adds so much flavor to my sauce! 

Making meatballs from scratch in the Instant Pot is so easy that it doesn’t add that much time to my cooking. 

Plus, I like knowing exactly what is in my meatballs–no fillers or chemicals when they are homemade!

Ingredients Needed For This Delicious Instant Pot Meatballs Recipes

This Instant Pot meatball recipe calls for the same basic ingredients that every homemade meatball recipe requires.
  • 1 pound lean ground beef, ground pork or ground turkey – or a blend 
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk 
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • ¼ cup fresh parmesan cheese, finely grated l
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, finely chopped – oregano, basil, parsley
  • ½  teaspoon onion powder
  • ½  teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Step 1

Combining two forms of meat adds so much flavor to homemade meatballs!

In a large bowl, mix together the combination of meat, if using. 

Step 2

You can use a spoon to combine your meatball mixture, but I swear by using your hands! It seems to mix everything much more thoroughly.

Add all other ingredients and gently mix together, but do not overwork. Wanna spice them up? Add some Italian seasoning to the mix next time!

I like to use a cookie scoop when I make my Instant Pot meatballs. This allows for uniform shape!

Form into meatballs.

Instant Pot meatballs are perfect for meal prepping! I make a large batch and then freeze them so that I can pull them out to add to sauce. I also use them in Italian wedding soup, and for meatball subs!

Add trivet to bottom of Instant Pot.

Then add jarred or homemade spaghetti sauce.

Place meatballs on top of sauce, close together.

Be very careful when releasing the steam on your Instant Pot!

Cover and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes with a 10 minute natural release.

Replace a few ingredients and you can easily make gluten free Instant Pot meatballs!

Notes:

Mix in some Italian sausage with your ground beef to make them extra flavorful.

How To Make Gluten Free Instant Pot Meatballs 

If you are cooking for someone with a gluten sensitivity or allergy, you can easily whip up gluten free Instant Pot meatballs, with a couple of substitutions. 

Replace the breadcrumbs with gluten free breadcrumbs, and make sure that your Worcestershire sauce is gluten free, or omit it. 

As always, double check the ingredients label on all processed items to be sure that there isn’t any wheat or gluten hidden inside.

HOW TO STORE YOUR JUICY MEATBALLS

Store your cooked meatballs in an airtight container. Make sure they are fully cooled before you put them in.

Made too many meatballs? You don’t have to make them all at once. If you made a big batch freeze some of the raw meatballs for later!

You can also freeze cooked meat balls too.
