While I am done having babies of my own, I do love to read list of baby names. I love everything from popular baby names to vintage baby names. I just find names and the reason people name their baby that, fascinating.
Today I came across something interesting… Turns Out, Parents Are No Longer Naming Their Babies ‘Karen’ and I’ll give you one guess why…
Yup, the name Karen has become the name to avoid naming your child after it has become a meme for this heck of a year.
It has actually starting dropping in popularity in the U.S. over the past year.
According to the Social Security Administration website, between 2018 and 2019, the name Karen fell 23 places, from the 637th most popular baby name for girls to number 660. That is its lowest ranking on the annual SSA list since the year 1929!
Nameberry co-founder and CEO Pamela Redmond told People in July that she felt “sure” that “Karen is going to become one of those names that no parent wants to give their child.”
So, there ya have it. That is one name you may be able to eliminate off the list of possible contenders for naming your baby.
