Sight Word List
There are some letter D words that just don’t quite make sense. Not even when we try to sound them out! For those words, we rely on memorizing a sight word list. This list of words can be as long or as short as you like – the more, the better!
As we start to list Kindergarten Sight Words and 1st Grade Sight Words, it becomes apparent that there are far too many to try to teach at once. But – we have a solution! Grouping these challenging words by the letter they start with, helps to keep lessons fun and on-point without being overwhelming. We love being able to have a short sight word list for the letter D ready for you to share.
Kindergarten Sight Words:
- Did
- Do
- Does
- Day
- Dog
- Door
- Done
- Duck
For Kindergartners, learning sight words is all about making them fun and memorable. The letter D is no different! This can be done by finding ways to make the word musical! The first thing that comes to mind with this sight word list, is using the Baby Shark song to help your child recognize the word “do!” We also love it as a great way to help your
baby shark wash your hands. Make it fun, and the memorization will come.
1st Grade Sight Words:
- Down
- Didn’t
- Don’t
- Draw
- Drop
- Dark
- Deal
- Dye
At the end of the day, there is no perfect method for how to teach sight words to everyone, only the methods that work best for each individual. If you are struggling, consider
trying a new strategy! There are always new
sight word activities being created, every day.
