Essential Oils for Summer Travels

Summer time is my favorite thing in the world! We can finally enjoy longer days with warmer temperatures, spend time with the family, and of course, feel that summer sun lightly hit our faces. I just feel positive vibes all around. There are many different ways in which you can use essential oils during the summer months. For example, some drops of tea tree oil are perfect for relieving sunburn, while thyme and orange essential oil blends are the best way to keep bugs away (which become super common this time of year!). We recommend Young Living essential oils as they have a big variety of single oils and blends and you only need a few drops of essential oil to create dozens of essential oil recipes. Plus, Young Living oils have one of the highest-quality oils we know. Note: Never use undiluted essential oils as doing so may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions. Keep reading to find out some quick tips to use essential oils to make this summer the best summer ever. Relieve Sunburn Are you only relying on Aloe Vera gel to relieve your sunburn? If so, think again! The anti-inflammatory properties of certain essential oils can help reduce swelling, pain, and any scarring that may occur as a result of sunburn. My favorite oils for sunburn relief are lavender essential oil, chamomile, peppermint, geranium, and tea tree. Simply add to a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, witch hazel, or Aloe Vera gel and apply to the affected areas. Keep Bugs Away If you’re looking for an eco-friendlier bug spray that isn’t full of potentially toxic chemicals, using essential oils are a great way to do so (plus – it’s also the most economical way). The perfect oil for this is thyme, but for a stronger solution, a homemade DIY bug spray (you can use diffuser jewelry if you have it) made from Thyme and orange essential oil will be useful to bring along on your trip. Both of these essential oils are known to ward off ticks, which may make them effective at preventing Lyme Disease. Thyme and orange also both help keep the mosquitoes at bay.
