Homemade Coconut Oil Body Butter RECIPE

I get really flaky skin during the winter months, so I use peppermint in my body butter because I love everything peppermint! But once it starts to warm up and summer starts to show its beautiful sunny head, I switch to using either lavender or lemon essential oil as they make a great addition to my personal care routine – did I mention the nice scent too?!

All of these scents, along with other melted ingredients, make an amazing body butter that’s creamy, and leaves your legs moisturized and smooth! This is seriously the best recipe I’ve tried that makes my skin feel soft. In fact, it’s the only thing that works for me in the winter months.

The best thing about this coconut oil recipe is that you can make either small batches or a big jar of coconut oil. Since the main ingredient (organic coconut oil) has a long shelf life, you can make your own body butter and keep it for a long time – months even. Making your own skin moisturizers is great to avoid skin irritation as you know exactly what kind of ingredients you’re using, making it perfect for people with sensitive skin.

The first time I made this I thought it looked way too delicious to rub on my legs, I mean it does kind of look like whip cream! But I promise it doesn’t taste like it, and it’s certainly not as sticky! It’s a true body butter that works like magic on your dry skin!

Finally, a coconut oil body butter with a sweet smell!

Although I love lavender essential oil, you can use the essential oils of your choice as they have different benefits. For example, orange essential oil helps reduce skin conditions like acne, helps relieve inflammation, and of course, it adds a pleasant scent. On the other hand, ylang ylang essential oil has anti-fungal properties so it’s a perfect ingredient for prevention. You probably already have your favorite essential oils, so just try them out!
