We think NESTLÉ Pure Life Kid Designed Edition makes drinking water easy for parents and fun for kids which is what makes them the perfect picnic addition.
When my kids get excited about drinking water that makes me pretty excited too!
Let’s face it, getting kids to drink water can be a challenge, especially when the temptation of sugary beverages is all around. The folks at Nestlé Pure Life believe that water can and should be fun, and have recently launched the new “Share-a-Smile™” Kid Designed Edition, which features eight winning designs from the brand’s 2016 “Share Your Smile” contest. Parents were asked to have their children draw what makes them smile for a chance to win great prizes, including a chance to have their child’s design commercially produced and included on their labels.
It’s fun for the entire family! Nestlé Pure Life Kid Designed Edition 8oz water bottles are a convenient size for families on the go making it easy for kids to stay hydrated throughout the day. From a panda and his pals floating through the sky to a surfing hippo to friends frolicking at the beach–you can’t help but smile and let your imagination soar.
Let us show you how to have the Perfect Pretty Picnic this spring with Healthy Hydration and Food Choices:
Perfect Pretty Picnic with Healthy Hydration and Kid-Friendly Food Choices
Creating the Perfect Pretty Picnic for your family is simple with just a few decorations and supplies you probably already have on hand. With a little creativity, you can make a pretty picnic that your kids will love and remember forever.
How to Set Up Your Perfect Pretty Picnic:
For our family picnic, I took two full sized blankets and spread them on the ground under a tree. I also took another floral patterned blanket and hung it over a low branch on the tree to create a little extra shade from the sun. We used a broken chair for our tabletop and I set a hay bale to the side to create a serving area. Instead of a hay bale, you could use another chair, a blanket covered large plastic tote or even a lightweight end table or dresser. We used silk flowers to decorate the serving area, but freshly cut flowers would be even prettier. Hang a few oversized pompoms or a banner to make your picnic spot even cuter. Don’t have trees? Set up a small kid-sized tent instead.
I also put a body pillow on the blanket I laid on the ground with the intent that my kids would like to have a cushy area to sit, instead they used it to lay their heads on and talk for a while after eating the Healthy Salmon and Kale Pitas that I made them for our simple family picnic. I served all of the food in rectangular paper serving trays and the Nestlé Pure Life Kid Designed Edition 8 oz bottles were awesome enough by themselves that my kids drank straight from them.
Healthy Hydration is Key
Did you know that replacing a single 12-ounce, 140 calorie sugar sweetened beverage with water each day for a year can cut more than 65 cups of sugar from one’s diet? Kids have many choices when it comes to beverages and, unfortunately, research suggests that water is not always top of mind. According to a 2015 survey by Nestlé, Kids who drink 4+ glasses of water per day are more likely to frequently exhibit healthy habits, such as:
Getting their own water when thirsty
Eating fruits and vegetables at meal times without reminders
Requesting healthy food and beverage options for school lunches
Here’s how to make my Healthy Salmon and Kale Pitas recipe that my kids loved so much:
Healthy Salmon and Kale Pitas Recipe
Ingredients:
1 can cooked salmon
1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
3 pita breads
1-2 cups fresh kale, chopped
Directions:
First, mix the cooked salmon and mayonnaise or salad dressing together well.
Next, using a sharp knife cut the pitas in half and using your fingers very carefully open the pita bread.
Then fill the bottoms of the pitas with chopped kale.
Finally, top with the salmon mixture.
I served these Healthy Salmon and Kale Pitas with fresh grapes, vegetable chips, a chocolate chip cookie for a treat, and, of course, Nestlé Pure Life Kid Designed Edition 8 oz bottles of water.
