How to Get Kids on Sleep Schedule with Warm Honey Vanilla Milk
The holidays are a wonderful time to spend time with the ones you love but once they are over, it can be hard getting back into the hang of things. For our family, the hardest thing has been getting our boys (especially our 5 year old) back onto a good sleep schedule. If your child was out of school for 2 weeks during the holidays, you know the struggle is all too real.
When I was growing up, warm milk became a common drink. Whether I was sick or needed to get really (really) sleepy, it was something my parents and grandparents would serve to me. Now that I am a mom myself, I’ve found it works just as well on my boys.
I simply make this delicious warm honey vanilla milk and give it to my boys about a half hour before I know I want them to go to bed. Then they get nice and sleepy and I get my quiet time! It has truly helped get us back into a regular sleep schedule and give me a bit of my sanity back. 😉
Now I want to mention that yes, milk does contain tryptophan which is an amino acid said to induce sleep. However, there are other studies out there that say otherwise and say it’s more of a physiological thing since we’ve all been taught warm milk makes us tired. No matter how you look at it, warm milk can be a great way to get your kiddos back onto a sleep schedule. Best part is, you aren’t using any medications or herbs. Instead, you are using organic milk and a few other natural ingredients!
As I mentioned, the best part about this recipe is that it uses organic and natural ingredients. It’s been a tradition of mine that I am passing down to my kids. Whether you are needing to get your kids onto a better sleep schedule or just need some quiet time, this warm milk recipe can certainly help!
