Martin Luther King Sr Facts FOR KIDS

Martin Luther King Sr. was born Michael King on December 19, 1899, and died on November 11, 1984.
Mr. King Sr. believed in equal rights for Black Americans in the United States.
He was an African-American Baptist preacher, missionary, and an early Figure in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s.
Martin Luther King Sr. was the father of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
He was the senior pastor of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church from 1931 to 1975.

Mr. King Sr. studied at Morehouse College, the only four-year liberal arts institution that’s historically Black and all-male.
He wrote a letter of recommendation for his son, Martin Luther King Jr., to attend the Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania.
In 1934, he decided to change his own name and that of his eldest son from Michael King Jr to Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Sr. became a role model, in fact, his own son also followed his father’s steps to fight for justice.
After the assassination of his son King, Jr., he spoke at several events honoring his son.
