Fudge Fudge Fudge

My family loves sweets during the holidays.(Actually we love them all year around! ) There are certain sweets that we made only once a year during the Christmas holidays though. These  sweets are  not only enjoyed  at our house we always  make enough  to and give to others who also love sweets.   This year we decided to make my Aunt Sue’s Pounds of Wonderful Fudge recipe.

1/2 cup of butter

1 can of evaporated milk ( 14 1/2 oz.)

4 1/2 cups of sugar

1/2 pound of unsweetened chocolate

12 ounces of semi- sweet chocolate chips

12 ounces of sweet chocolate chips

1 Tablespoon of vanilla

5 cups of small marshmallows

Mix the butter, milk, and sugar in a large saucepan.

Pour the mixture into a buttered jellyroll pan or large rectangular casserole dish.

The Fudge

Spread mixture out evenly with spatula.

Let stand until the fudge is firm. Chill in the fridge for a short time if you kitchen is warm.

Cut it into 1-inch squares.

We then place the squares of fudge into cookie tins lined with foil to give as gifts immediately. If we needed to prepare the fudge ahead of time due to event filled days close to Christmas , we could wrap it a single layer of fudge in foil and place it in the freezer. It could be taken out when we needed it and  given as gifts.   We have found that fudge placed in the freezer  tends to remain safe from the sweet teeth at my house and ends up as a wonderful gift for someone else.
