Today we are making a rocket craft! Kids of all ages will love making this space craft. It’s fun, easy, and messy, what’s not to love? Oh, and it has stickers. Who doesn’t love stickers? So, gather your craft supplies and let’s make this out of this world craft. You can make this rocket craft at home or in the classroom.

Rocket Craft
This rocket ship craft is perfect for toddlers, preschool kids, and even kindergarteners! It only requires basic art supplies, so it’s fairly budget-friendly. It can be made as is or be part of space or science curriculum.
This is a fun space craft that allows you to make your own shiny rocket ship and handprint flames. Then don’t forget to add the shiny stars around your rocket.

Supplies Needed For This Rocket Craft
- Black Construction Paper
- White Crayon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Aluminum Foil
- Red, Yellow, Orange Paint
- Paint Brush
- Elmer’s Glue
- Butter Knife
- Star Stickers
Step 1

Draw your rocket ship. We free handed ours with a round top, flat bottom, a circle window, two fins, and an area for the fire to come out of.
Craft Notes:

Step 2

Trace the outline with hot glue.
Step 3
Cut out a square piece of aluminum foil.
Step 4
Once the hot glue is dry glue the inside of the rocket and press the foil over it.

Step 5
We used the butter knife to clear away the excess foil.
Step 6
Paint your hand red, orange, and yellow, press it below the rocket.
Step 7

Paint in the open areas of the hand
Step 8

Add star stickers around your rocket.
How To Make This Rocket Craft Your Own
Just like all our crafts, you can make this rocket ship craft your own by:
- Using different colored stars
- Painting your stars
- Coloring the tinfoil with sharpies
- Printing out one of the rocket printables and gluing it on
- Use glitter for the stars
- Paint the flames instead of using a handprint
Our Experience With This Rocket Craft
My kids are really into space right now. I think it probably has something to do with the fact we live somewhere with less light pollution, so we can actually see the stars.
And let’s be honest, space is kind of cool. So I figured, let’s make our own rocket and a little piece of space in our living room.
It did get a little messy with the paint. But you know what, that’s okay. Paint is meant to be messy.
