Easy Chocolate Mug Cake FAQs
Yes, microwave mug cakes are generally safe to consume. Check the mug for any cracks or chips before microwaving, as this can lead to breaks in the vessel and potential food contamination.
Overcooking your mug cake is the most common reason you have a rubbery texture in your cake. Another reason why your mug cake might have a rubbery texture is that the ingredients were not measured correctly or that substitutions were made.
We don’t recommend substituting hot chocolate powder for cocoa powder in this mug cake recipe, but you can attempt it. Most brands of hot chocolate contain additional sugar or ingredients not found in cocoa powder, so check the label and reduce the amount of additional sugar in the recipe (which is hard to do and can result in a less then perfect result).
