We were driving down University Dr. in Fort Worth the other day while looking for something “different” for lunch.
Then we saw it.
The sign said
Smashburger.
With a name like that, they had to be at least a little different.
Their door read, “
Smashburger – Smash. Sizzle. Savor.”
Intriguing. We must try it!
She Is Dallas info: Smashburger is an up and coming “better burger” national chain of restaurants. In the DFW area, they have locations in Addison at 4980 Belt Line Road, Burleson at 1505 Wilshire Blvd, Dallas at 2222 McKinney Avenue, Ft. Worth at 1605 S. University Dr., Arlington at 5005 S. Cooper Street, and Irving at 975 W John Carpenter Freeway (West Highway 114). For more information, please visit the Smashburger website. They can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
We started with an appetizer of fried pickles. You must try these! Crispy batter and crunchy pickles make your mouth do the happy dance.
The kid’s meals were quite nice and didn’t seem like an afterthought as in most restaurants. Rachel had the hot dog kids meal but instead of looking like something that had been nuked in the microwave, this hot dog had been sliced and grilled, just like I would have wanted it.
The burgers. Well, the burgers are simply the best I’ve ever tried. Unfortunately, I dug into mine before taking a picture. Primal instinct.
One of the really interesting things about Smashburger is that although they are located all over the country, they also create specialized burgers for different regions of the country by using certain ingredients and flavors that appeal to the local population. For example, the Texas menu has a Lonestar
Smashburger which is served open-faced with cheddar cheese, beefy chili, diced onions, diced tomatoes, fresh jalapenos, and grated cheddar cheese on a chipotle bun. They even include a knife and fork with this Texas-sized burger! They also offer a Texas Jalepeno BBQ
Smashburger which has jalapenos, BBQ sauce, cheese, bacon, and haystack onions.
Smashburger also offers some interesting salads such as the BBQ Chicken Ranch salad or the Cowboy Cobb salad.
But let’s get serious. Why would you go to a place called
Smashburger and just order a salad?
