I have thought about it. It can’t hurt to be prepared in case I’m ever face-to-face with an attacker.
I just found out about a women-only course in Irving and the only cost is a $20 donation for their kids’ program. You might want to check it out too but you’ve got to sign up fast because tomorrow is the registration deadline!
The class is through the Irving Police Athletic League. They are hosting a rape aggression defense class for women, ages 13 years and older. This is a great opportunity to learn some new skills and gain the needed confidence in case you are ever in a dangerous situation.
She Is Dallas Info: The Rape Aggression Defense class will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. May 7, 8, 10 and 11 (no Wednesday class) at the Irving Police Training Academy, 2603 Esters Road. Registration closes April 27 and is limited to 35 participants. Each participant must provide a $20 donation for kids ™ programs, sign three waivers, and attend all four sessions. You can click on the links for the adult waiver packet or the minor waiver packet. For more information, call Officer Joseph Palomar at (972) 721-2545 or visit the Irving PAL website and choose Community Training.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. The comprehensive, women-only course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training.
