Welcome to our origami flower bouquet tutorial! In this step-by-step tutorial, we will show you how to make a lovely bouquet of origami flowers to decorate your home. This activity is perfect for kids of all ages as well as adults who enjoy crafting and creating something special with their hands. Let’s get started!
What You’ll Need:
- Square pieces of paper (you can use origami paper or cut squares from colored printer paper). Each piece of paper will be one origami flower.
- A ribbon to tie your origami flower bouquet.
- Patience and a love for crafting!
Step 1:
Start with a square piece of paper with one corner pointing up.
Step 2
Fold the paper in half by bringing the bottom corner to meet the top corner.
step 3
Fold the paper in half again by bringing the right corner to meet the left corner.
step 4
Squash fold the layer on top by pressing down, forming a small square with a pointy tip.
step 5
Repeat the squash fold on the other section, matching the borders on both sides. Your figure will now look like a square!
step 6
Fold the right and left corners to the middle line, creating a shape that looks like a kite.
step 7
Flip over the paper and repeat the previous step on the other side.
Step 8
Take one of the sides and extend it.
Step 9
On that same side, put your finger in between the layers, then press down to crease. That side will look something like this now.
step 10
Repeat steps 8 and 9 on the remaining sides. Remember, simply take a side and flatten it until the corners look like this picture below. It’s easier than it looks!
step 11
On one of the sides, fold the left and right corners to the middle line. Your figure now looks a bit like a space rocket {giggles}.
step 12
Flip over and repeat on the remaining sides.
step 13
Once you’ve done all the sides, unfold the last folded corners outwards. Then, open and push up the top fold by putting your thumbs inside this fold and pushing upwards. This will create a small flap.
step 14
Repeat the previous step on all sides.
step 15
Pull apart each side, place the triangle-shaped flap inside, and put the sides together again. Repeat for every flap on every side, then close again.
step 16
Now, move the vertical flaps to the side until the front and back look like the picture below (one continuous front instead of the two individual corners).
Step 17
On every side, fold the left and right corners inward to the middle line.
step 18
Pull apart the sides and pull them down to shape the flower petals. Adjust until you’re satisfied with the look. Your figure should resemble a flower at this point – and we’re about to make some more flowers!
step 19
Congratulations! Your first origami flower is complete! Now, make as many as you like in different colors to create a beautiful bouquet.
step 20
Tie your flowers together with a bow, ribbon, or a larger piece of paper. Your origami flower bouquet is ready to be displayed and admired!
