She Is Dallas Info:   WFAA Family First Day will be held Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dallas Zoo located at 650 South R.L. Thornton Freeway (I-35E), just three miles south of downtown Dallas, on I-35E at the Marsalis exit. ExxonMobil Science Day

October 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Discover how much fun science can be by attending ExxonMobil Science Day at the Dallas Zoo. Guests will encounter booths that demonstrate scientific principles in entertaining ways, while teachers and homeschool parents participate in educational workshops and earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours. All Zoo visitors are invited to try the fun activities at booths in the Wilds of Africa.   Cost: Free with paid Zoo admission.

Dallas Zoo Photo Day

October 8, Begins at 7 a.m. Rise and shine with the animals when the Zoo opens two hours early for photographers who want to explore the park at their own pace. Enjoy the peace before guests begin to arrive at 9 a.m. Start out with a continental breakfast and stay as long as you want.   Cost: $40 (DZS members)/$50 (non-members).

RunningforRhinosRunning for Rhinos

October 22, 8 to 11 a.m. Charge through the Zoo on a 5K race or amble along on a 1K family fun run and raise money for rhino conservation. The 5K race starts at the Zoo entrance and concludes at Cat Green in ZooNorth. The family fun run begins at 8:15 a.m. and the course remains inside the Zoo. Family, friends, and spectators will celebrate at the end of the race with a party and awards ceremony. Race participants can enjoy the Zoo at a slower pace the rest of the day. When registration begins until the end of the race, the Dallas Zoo's Green Team and Luke's Locker will take your donations of used tennis shoes to donate to the needy or send for recycling. Radio Disney's Healthy You at the Zoo

October 22, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We're making fitness fun. Join Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and Radio Disney for a high-energy day filled with exciting activities centered on healthy lifestyles. Take your picture with BCBS Blue Bear and check out the Care Van with information about childhood immunizations.   Cost: Free with paid Zoo admission.

Dallas Zoo Halloween NightsHalloween Nights at the Dallas Zoo

October 27, 28, 29 – 5 to 8 p.m. The gates of the Dallas Zoo creep open for a special evening celebration that will get the ghouls and boys howling with laughter. The Zoo closes at 4 p.m. and reopens at 5 p.m. Dress the kids in costumes for this not-so-scary event. Meet Zoohilda and her wacky sisters; travel to the neighborhood of storybook characters; catch the stage show on Cat Green; find serpents, newts, and toads in the reptile building; and trick-or-treat around ZooNorth and the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo. End the night with a backward spin on the Haunted Carousel.   Cost: $10 per person age 3 and older (includes six candy coupons per person, additional coupons available for purchase; discount of $2 per person for DZS members.
