  2. Africa’s total land area is approximately 11,724,000 square miles. Africa is more than three times the size of the United States.
  3. It’s hard to tell how many official languages are spoken in Africa, but the number is between 1,250 and 2,100 different languages spoken.
  4. The most widely spoken language is Swahili, with 200 million speakers.
  5. As of 2023, the current population is 1,426,574,996. It is 16.72 of the world’s population.
  6. The Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert in the world and the third largest overall after Antarctica and the Arctic.
