He said it earnestly.
Extraction plan aborted.
He might as well wear the cereal, because it isn’t something that I let him have at home. I mean, have you seen the sugar content?
Of course, what I allow goes a little haywire when we are on vacation and blog-Stedman does the grocery shopping. On the first day of our last Colorado ski trip he brought back “breakfast food” which consisted of 3 VERY SUGARY cereals and some Pop-Tarts.
Ummmm…
Where is the oatmeal?
Where is my whole wheat toast?
What am I going to eat?
The boys went crazy. Literally. They were shocked and awed at the prospect of a VARIETY of non-touchable cereals for breakfast.
I can have this?
Can I have more?
They couldn’t believe their good fortune. I didn’t have much choice since it was all that was available.
Sure! Help yourself to another bowl of SUGAR.
At least in Colorado they were skiing and playing outside where they were expending a kajillion calories and I figured as long as they brushed their teeth really well they would survive the week of breakfast bliss.
Rhett’s favorite cereal was Frosted Flakes. He looked into the bowl, observed the sparkly white flakes and declared them…
SNOW FLAKES.
So we come full circle to the Tony the Tiger tee. He is very excited about his SNOW FLAKE shirt and has worn it on every day that it is clean since it’s purchase. Last night as he took it off before bath he hugged it and sighed,
I just wish Tony the Tiger made pajamas…
Rhett got a new shirt.
He picked it out himself. He took it off the rack, held it to his chest and hugged it.
I looked down at the Tony the Tiger retro tee and immediately tried to come up with a plan of extraction.
Why do you like that shirt?
Because I LOVE his cereal.
Welcome to Kids Activities!
My name is Holly Homer & I am the Dallas mom of three boys…
My kids love junk cereal. With 10 of them, one box means not everyone gets one serving. So I buy 2 boxes. I try to make sure at least half of the cereal that gets purchased has some redeeming quality. I tend to buy the big box at costco and pour them into large tupperware containers. That way I can mix them half and half with corn flakes in the same container..
I have been weening my kids off of sugar-laden cereals for awhile. One of my sons last requests was FF. I think this box is going to last forever because I think it’s too sugar soaked even for him! Now I get to figure out what to do with all that cereal…
My kids love visiting their grandparents for many reasons…but the biggest reason is that there they are served PopTarts for breakfast. They think it is the most wonderful meal ever made and cannot understand why mean, grouchy mommy will not purchase such wonderful pastries for their house. Isaac even cut out a coupon the other day for PopTarts in hopes of inspiring me to throw a box in the shopping cart on my next trip to the store.
In South America they are called Zucaritas, which means little sugary ones.
My favorite cereal as a kid was Super Sugar Crisp. Now they call it Super Golden Crisp.
That is so sweet, I am glad he is so in love with his shirt.
your children are adorable.
And your blog is all changy. But I like it – stripes. yay! Kind of retro, kind of television late night test colour lines – they have a name but I can’t remember. I know! I’ll ask google – TV test pattern. Anyway, it’s very nice.
Awwwwwww!!! That’s so sweet!
I’m raising a little PopTart addict, so I feel your pain. We initially kept them on hand because with all of Tucker’s food allergies, texture issues and difficulty with swallowing some foods, they were something that we knew he loved and could eat. Yes, occasionally they served as his supper. But hey, he’s skinny as a rail and I wanted the kid to eat SOMETHING! When it was obvious he was outgrowing some of his food issues, it also became obvious that he was already addicted to those sickeningly sweet breakfast pastries. So I started ‘forgetting’ them when I did the shopping. Now I pick them up only on rare occasion.
Like when I’m just DYING for a chocolate with white cream filling. ; )
