A brown paper bag craft for winter.
Paint a brown paper bag with white paint.

Step 1

Have your child put their hand inside the brown paper bag and paint all sides with white paint. They don’t need to paint all the way to the top of the bag, instead, they can leave about 1.5-2 inches of the end without paint.

Stand the bag on its end to dry.

Staple the ends of the bag closed to make your snowman craft.
Fold the top of the bag over twice and then staple it in place.

Step 2

There are two ways you can do this next step. If you don’t plan on filling your bag with gifts or candy, fold the top of the bag over twice and staple it in place.

If you do plan on filling your bag, fold the top over twice and make sure there’s a have a crease in it so you know where to attach the facial features for your snowman. You’ll staple the bag closed at the very end once your snowman craft is finished and the bag is filled.

Step 3

It’s time to decorate your paper bag to make it look like a snowman. Make sure the paint on your bag is dry and then flatten your bag. It will make it so much easier to decorate it. Here is what you’ll need to attach using glue:

  • Black hat with a colorful stripe on it.
  • Carrot nose made out of orange scrapbook paper.
  • Googly eyes.
  • Pink cheeks made out of scrapbook paper. Tip: Trace around a small glass.
  • Buttons
  • Scarf made out of colorful scrapbook paper.
  • Draw on a mouth using a black marker.

Craft tip: If you are filling your bag with gifts, make sure to glue the black hat on after you’ve stapled your bag so that the gifts don’t fall out.
