Kwanzaa day 7, on January 1, is Imani, Swahili for faith. This seventh principle, Imani, states: “To believe, with all our heart, in our Creator, our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.”

All principles are important, but this one is so crucial because it reminds us of everything that truly matters in life, such as our people, our family, and our community. Faith in ourselves is key, too.
What is Kwanzaa?
Kwanzaa is a week-long holiday that celebrates and honors African-American culture, and anyone can join and participate in it. During this week, there is a lot of delicious food, traditional music and dancing, and many other family activities.
