baked ziti recipe is a perfect meal to assemble the night before & then pop in the oven at dinner time the next day.
It’s also a great dish to bring to a pot luck! Lots of gooey cheese, your favorite spaghetti sauce, & you’ll have a happy family. Serve with crusty garlic bread & a Ceasar salad for a complete meal.
BAKED ZITI INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. dry ziti pasta (Barilla Plus is my favorite–extra nutrition!)
1 lb. ground beef
2 26oz jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce
6 oz. Provolone cheese, sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream
6 oz. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 T grated Parmesan cheese
WHAT TO DO:
Bring a large pot of water to boil & cook ziti pasta until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain.
In a large skillet, brown ground beef & drain off fat. Add spaghetti sauce & simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter (or spray with no-stick cooking spray ) a 9×13 baking dish.
Layer as follows: 1/2 the ziti, Provolone, sour cream, 1/2 sauce mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella, & remaining sauce mixture. Sprinkle top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until cheeses are melted & bubbly.
**This baked ziti dish can be assembled in the baking dish the night before & baked the following day. If dish is cold going into the oven, it may take a little longer to bake.

This sound like how I make my “lasagne bake” but I don’t cook the noodles and use mascarpone instead of sour cream. I’ll have to give it a try!
I made this tonight with rave reviews. The only change I made was using cream cheese instead of sour cream since my hubby isn’t crazy about it. I love finding simple recipes with a big bang! I’m glad I found it on pinterest!
