What Is Stuffed French Toast?
Ummm a gift from Heaven! Stuffed French toast is sort of like a combination between French toast and grilled cheese!
You assemble the “stuffed” section of it similarly to grilled cheese, and then soak it in an egg wash, and fry it to make it like French toast!

Stuffed French Toast Recipe Notes
- You can also use a buttered pan if you don’t have a griddle. It will work the same.
- While this was sweet enough for my family you can add maple syrup if you want.
- Don’t like strawberries? You can use your favorite fruit like blueberry, raspberry, any fresh berries really.
- If you like your French toast extra hearty you can put a pat of butter on top. Melt butter and let it do its thing on top. Though it’s rich enough without the butter.
- You can use other bread. I’ve used Challah bread for this recipe before as well. Whatever bread you use make sure it is thick slices. I also have had this with brioche bread as well.
- This doesn’t have to be breakfast food, this also makes the perfect brunch food.
- The sweet cream cheese filling can be mixed with other things like peanut butter, Nutella, pecans, walnuts, bacon (if you like a savory breakfast).
Gluten Free Stuffed French Toast Recipe
It is super easy to make gluten-free stuffed French toast! Just swap the regular bread out for gluten free bread.
If you want to use thicker bread, you might be better off making your own loaf of gluten free bread, and then you can slice it as thick as you prefer!
Check the ingredient labels on all of the packaged ingredients to make sure they are also gluten free, too.
Vegan French Toast
In order to make vegan stuffed French toast, you will need to use vegan bread (or make your own).
You will also need to buy vegan cream cheese, and a plant-based milk of your choice.
You will also have to omit eggs from the egg soak, and use a “milk soak”, consisting of your vegan milk of choice, and the seasonings listed above in the recipe, instead.
