Our kids are having a hard time staying at home. They miss their friends. They miss play dates… and Big Poppa, a 3-year-old bulldog from Atlanta, can totally relate to those big, hard feelings. Big Poppa’s owner, Rashida Ellis, recently snapped a photo of her sweet, cuddly, adorable bulldog looking forlorn. In the photo originally posted to Twitter, he’s sitting out on a patio where he’s watching some neighbor kiddos, who he used to play with pre-lockdown. Ellis told BuzzFeed:
“He kept making noises to get their attention, but we’re six stories up and they can’t hear him. I was like, Oh my god, he’s really sad.
From his posture to the sad look on his face, he looks so crestfallen! Bulldogs can be lazy pooches, but as my own bulldog has shown me time and time again, they also love to romp, play, and get plenty of belly scratches. Big Poppa most definitely misses his friends. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_JAfd6Bn1M/ At the time of this writing, Big Poppa’s photo has been shared more than 86,000 times and received more than 771,000 hearts.  It’s not just because he’s absolutely adorable. It’s also because a whole lotta people — and dogs — can relate to his big feelings right about now. As @barkbox tweeted, “Am I crying because a dog I’ve never met before is sad? Yes.” https://www.instagram.com/p/B-4TEbNBqRK/ Some social media users are also sharing that their dogs totally feel the same way. “I feel you, Pops. I just sit here all day, missing having company over who will rub my ears and maybe even scratch my belly,” tweeted @BunkInBmore.  Others want to reach through the webosphere and give Big Poppa a big ol’ hug to cheer him up. “Pls hug that dog for me oh man,” said Twitter user @slowhnds.  Since the original photo, Ellis has shared more about her adorable Big Poppa, including one of him trying to sit in a bed that is far too small with him. So mixed in with those sad feelings, there are some reasons to smile too.  Big Poppa might not know how much people around the world love him right now. But he’s showing everyone that we’re not alone in our big feelings. Plus, he’s super cute. That’s the encouragement and love we all need right about now.
