Kids’ perfume is going crazy now isn’t it?

All kids want them, girls and boys. There are so many options from their favourite TV characters, Movie Stars and even now Disney Characters and Super Heroes.

The pressure is on to keep up with the latest cool trends, but how do you do that whilst being mindful of avoiding chemical based products and breaking the bank?

How about creating your own perfume blend for your child using essential oils?

We love this idea as your kids can choose their own blend, their favourite smells that make them feel happy, confident and grounded but is their own unique perfume. Now that really is something to impress their buddies with!

Why Should I avoid store bought chemical based kids’ “fragrances”?

More than 95% of the chemicals in synthetic fragrances are derived from petrochemicals. Petrochemicals have been linked to causing cancer, birth defects, nervous system disorders, disruption in hormone activity and causing severe allergies.

These synthetic chemicals can be hidden under the word “fragrance” in any product. In the U.S this type of labelling is unfortunately still legal. So, knowing what you are buying for yourself and your kids is becoming more and more confusing. Many families decide to make DIY products instead to avoid any risks of chemical reactions.

DIY NATURAL KIDS PERFUME

These recipes are so cute, even Mommy can wear them!

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Orange, 2 drops Valor
  2. 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Lime, 2 drops Spearmint
  3. 1 drop Lavender, 1 drop Valor, 1 drop Stress Away, 1 drop Peace & Calming, 1 drop Vetiver
  4. 4 drops Orange, 4 drops Peppermint

How To Use

Some essential oils, mainly citrus oils, can be photo sensitive. This means they are very sensitive to sunlight.

We suggest that the perfumes that include citrus oils are not applied directly onto the skin to avoid any kind of reaction with the sun.  Instead, you can apply a tiny amount to the wrists, through the hair and over the clothes. For example on the shirt collar and back of the neck.

How long will the perfume last

From the day you make up the oil this will last for up to six months. Take care to always keep the lid on the bottle and keep out of direct sunlight and store in a cool dark place to get the best out of your perfume.
