I am an Invisalign Teen® brand spokesperson and all opinions expressed are my own. Full disclosure. As a parent, it can be easy to get caught up with the day-to-day details and lose sight of the big picture of life.  One of the things I love about the new year is that it seems to refocus me back on what is important. Family Goals 2017 - Invisalign This year I want to concentrate on three things that could make 2017 the best year for my family…ever!

Family Game Night

Our family loves to play games – cards, board games, video games, anything!  My three boys are 11, 13 & 15 and although spending time with mom and dad isn’t something they would admit to loving, I have never seen them turn down the offer of a game! I want to leverage this competitive nature for the good of our family.  I adore the trash-talking, collective strategy and family time that game night brings.  Recently, I have just let this happen organically and it just hasn’t been frequent or consistent. In 2017, I am adding family game night to our calendar because it is THAT important!

Hygiene, Hygiene, Hygiene

When the kids were younger, it was easy to make sure they were clean, their teeth were brushed and behind their ears were scrubbed…because it was up to me to make it happen! Now that they are older and independent in these tasks, it has been easy to take focus off of the importance of these unless someone STINKS!  But it is my duty to make sure they go out into this world with good habits.  Not only so they don’t stink, but because it can keep them healthier. One thing I will be stressing in 2017 is good oral health.  This means stressing the importance {and follow-through} of brushing and flossing.  One of my kids is already in braces and the next one will be starting with Invisalign Teen® clear aligners.  I love that the clear aligners are removable, so he can get proper brushing and flossing in and he’ll have no food restrictions to worry about either.  I also love that Invisalign technology has become so advanced that they’re able to treat minor to complex cases, so it’s definitely worth getting a consultation if you’ve considered traditional braces for your teen. I recently finished up my Invisalign treatment and am so happy with the results.  The amazing thing is that they are virtually invisible – my family had forgotten I was even wearing them!

Gathering Friends & Family

I am adding one more thing to my calendar in 2017.  It will be a specific time to make sure we are seeing friends and extended family.  Life goes by so quickly! It is easy to go one, two, three months without hugging someone dear in person!  I don’t want that for our future. Join me in making 2017 a year of connection!
